Bob Pain, AILO CEO, recently attended the EIOPA Conference in Frankfurt. The theme for this year’s conference was Hidden Risks & New Horizons and was the first post-pandemic face to face EIOPA Conference attended by 200 delegates.

Key topics presented and discussed at this year’s conference included:

Horizontal Regulation – can be seen as one rule for the whole industry or collaboration across Regulators. This is ideal for digital and climate regulation.

Digital Operational Resilience – discussing the latest DORA legislation. Cyber risk is currently seen as the biggest risk to the industry.

The Protection Gap (including life and pensions) – In the current climate, the challenge is that consumers are focused on short term rather than long term. Product costs are often not justified and do not offer value for money. There is a need to encourage more savings, improved products and better communication to consumers.

Overall,” commented Bob “it was a fantastic day of panel discussions, keynote speakers and catching up with new and old connections. Thank you Petra* and all at EIOPA for an excellent event.”

At a time of economic uncertainty, it’s important that the sector is able to come together and speak as one voice on key issues impacting all customers. AILO is pleased to play its role in helping to achieve this.
